Medieval Feast

Riga, Latvia · 2015

Bread, bottles, bowls and pottery crowd a carved wooden table beneath a rough stone vault, all lit by warm lantern light. Hanging bundles of herbs and an iron cauldron complete the impression of a medieval kitchen preparing for a feast. As a busy Baltic port, Riga drew wine, spices and goods from across Europe into its markets and storehouses. Rooms like this offer a taste of that heritage, where food, history and atmosphere meet in one candlelit space.
