Storm Light

Gulf Shores, Alabama · 2015

Sugar-white sand curves along the left edge while blurred waves race in from a churning Gulf of Mexico. Overhead, lavender and slate clouds part just enough to let a patch of peach light glow near the horizon. Summer storms building over the Gulf often bring the most dramatic skies of the day to this shore. The soft, fine texture of the sand comes from its quartz grains, which stay cool underfoot even under a summer sun.
